Limiting Beliefs are thoughts, ideas, even values that are holding you back from achieving your goals. I call them “ghosts”. They seem real – but have long ago died. You have believed them to be true, and at one time they may have been, but now they no longer serve you.
Here are some common examples of ghosts we hold on to:
- The ghost from a past relationship: It’s easy to remember all of the good times after a breakup, but don’t forget why it didn’t work, the arguments, the sad times – remember the reasons why the relationship didn’t work.
- The ghost of a failure: The key to overcoming failures is to look at it as “failing forward” – failure is part of life and. So ask yourself what you can learn from it and look to new opportunities.
- The ghosts of “I wish I had.” We can’t live our life in the past and focus on things we “wish” we had done. If you are still wishing – then what you are wishing for is something you most likely need to do. Or something you most likely need to move on from. So go do it or let it go.
- The ghost of waiting: Stop waiting. You never know when your number is up. Take one step towards what you want to do and if you fail – see number 2 and carry on.
Zig Ziglar said it best:
“Don’t let the shadows of yesterday spoil the sunshine of tomorrow.”
The best way that I know to move forward and let go of ghosts is connecting to your center. Your center is your place of total authenticity. Your center holds your soul truth. Your center is where your Spirit Team lives.
